Despite geopolitical tensions during the first half of 2026, particularly in the Middle East, the GEN-I Group achieved outstanding business results and once again demonstrated the resilience and effectiveness of its business model, even in challenging energy market conditions. These results confirm our ability to swiftly capitalize on market opportunities while effectively managing risks and maintaining stable operations.
With electricity trading volumes increasing by 19% compared to the same period last year, gross profit reached EUR 71.3 million in the first half of 2026, exceeding the plan by 39%. At the same time, the Group generated a net profit of EUR 16.7 million, representing 80% of the annual target. These results reaffirm our successful management of market volatility and the adaptability of our business model.
"The results for the first half of 2026 demonstrate that through the consistent implementation of our strategy and timely measures, we have further enhanced operational efficiency even in a dynamic market environment. Our key priorities remain ensuring stability, predictability, and competitive prices for our customers, while maintaining their trust. At the same time, we are focused on further strengthening our international presence, developing advanced energy solutions, and effectively managing our diversified portfolio across 27 countries," emphasized Maks Helbl, President of the Management Board of GEN-I, d.o.o.
During the first half of the year, the Group further strengthened its international portfolio of flexible energy assets by integrating three large-scale battery energy storage systems in Bulgaria, with a combined capacity of 76 MWh. At the same time, we continue to enhance our management of flexible energy resources, where we rank among the leading asset optimisers in the region.
