Solar power plants are shaping the story of sustainable tourism

31/08/2025

Matej and Manuela have combined their passion for nature and sustainable tourism in Jeruzalem, located in the Slovenske gorice region. Their goal was to create a space where guests could connect with nature while actively contributing to environmental protection. They furnished their tourist accommodations with recycled wood and looked for additional ways to reduce both their carbon footprint and operating costs.

They found the solution in installing GEN-I Sonce solar power plants, which will provide carbon-free electricity for their guests over the next 30 years.

Choosing a long-term partner

“We wanted a partner that offers a comprehensive service from start to finish,” says Manuela. “It was also important to us that they use the best materials on the market and offer long-term support, backed by ISO certifications. We ourselves place great value on material quality—almost all our furniture is made from recycled materials. GEN-I Sonce included maintenance in the initial offer, so we didn’t hesitate with our decision.”

The solar power plants were installed on tourist facilities across three different locations, aligned with their sustainability vision. A total of 80 panels were installed, with a combined capacity of 28.08 kW and an annual production of 32.23 MWh. Each year, Matej and Manuela will save up to 42 tons of CO₂.

The construction of the solar power plants marks just the beginning of our partnership. Over the coming decades, we will ensure uninterrupted energy supply through real-time monitoring from our high-tech control center, and we will conduct physical inspections of the plants every two years.
