Turning battery energy storage systems (BESS) into strategic value

08/02/2026

GEN‑I is reinforcing its role as a leader in the European energy landscape with advanced energy services that unlock the full potential of battery energy storage systems (BESS) - a core enabler of flexibility, resilience, and revenue optimization in modern energy systems.

BESS: A key driver of profitable energy

Battery storage is rapidly becoming essential for integrating renewables, ensuring grid stability, and capturing value across power markets. At GEN-I, we support this transformation by offering end-to-end BESS optimization and management services, helping our partners achieve excellent operational and financial performance.

From standalone systems to hybrid projects, our approach combines real-time algorithms, deep market insight, and active asset management, ensuring that storage assets deliver maximum in today’s evolving energy environment.

Tailored models and cutting-edge services

GEN-I offers flexible commercial models for both stand alone or hybrid batteries including tolling agreements, revenue-sharing structures, and hybrid models with revenue floors, enabling partners to choose a structure aligned to meet partner's needs and business goals.

Our BESS optimization cutting-edge service include:

  • Asset management and multi-market optimisation
  • Real-time operation and optimized dispatch
  • Participation in wholesale and balancing markets
  • 24/7 automated control
  • Transparent, performance-based reporting

A trusted partner for the energy transition

At GEN‑I, BESS management is not just about optimization, it’s about merging deep market expertise, advanced trading strategies, and active asset management to meet diverse project requirements, unlocking the full potential of your BESS portfolios and delivering tangible value in dynamic energy markets.

In 2025 and 2026, we concluded long-term optimization contracts for major utility-scale BESS projects in Romania and Bulgaria. In Bulgaria, we are optimizing two battery facilities totaling 200 MW / 505 MWh, in partnership with SUNOTEC, ensuring maximum market value through 24/7 algorithmic trading and multi-market participation. In Romania, we signed an optimization agreement with R.Power for a large-scale battery project with a capacity of 127 MW / 254 MWh - further strengthening our presence in one of Europe’s most important and fastest-growing BESS markets.

These collaborations mark a major step in our regional expansion and reflect the growing demand for expert storage management across Southeast Europe.

By committing to being a reliable, performance-driven partner, GEN-I supports investors and developers in turning battery storage into a strategic asset and unlocking the full value of its flexibility while contributing to power system stability and the integration of renewable energy.
